Announcement issued by the ICPA On the false allegations by Al-Hilali E-mail

Announcement issued by the Islamic Charity Projects Association
On the False Allegations by Al-Hilali
2nd November 2006

All praise is due only to Allah. May Allah’s peace be upon his slaves whom He chose above other creations the best of whom is our prophet Muhammad, his Al and pure companions, who are attributed with honesty and compassion. Thereafter:

In the Quran the Ayah means: O you who believe, if an outright sinner comes to you with news, verify it, lest you may inflict harm on others in ignorance and become regretful for what you have done.

The messenger of Allah also says what means: it is enough deception from the person to speak of every rumor he hears without verifying it. Related by Muslim

In adherence to this glorified ayah and honourable hadith we discredit and belie the allegations of Al-Hilali targeted at the Association of illumination and moderation, namely the Islamic Charity Projects Association, the students and the beloved advocates of the eminent pious Sheikh and qualified relayer of Hadith (muhadith) Abdullah Al-Harariy Al-Shaybiy, also known as the Habashiy, in reference to his homeland-Habasha. May Allah protect him.

To refute Al-Hilaly's these allegations we say that in his habitual manner, Al-Hilali has again deliberated accusations against our organization without proof or grounds to his claim. This time he has announced to the media that some among the students of the scholar of Al-Harariy, in partnership with some Australian print media have exploited extracts of a speech recorded in his voice in which he clears the rapist of the crime of rape and lays the major blame on the female who does not dress modestly; resembling her to uncovered meat left out and her rapist to a cat that bears close to no blame.

To add fuel to the fire, he draws support to his radical invalid judgment from the words of a writer quoting that in the event of a rape incident the verdict should be to only reprimand the rapist, but to hand the female victim of rape a life sentence in jail. End quote.

Al-Hilali has published his verdict in multiple places including live and repeated broadcasts on two local community radio stations and in live streaming on internet websites. His speeches including this controversial one given on the 4th of Ramadan, are also recorded and uploaded on websites operated by Hilali associates, ready to be downloaded for all to hear. Moreover, Al-Hilali has admitted to saying these words.

Hence, his ploy in constructing this allegation against the ICPA is another plot to achieve division in the Muslim community. The style by which Hilali deals with Islamic issues, has for many years caused repetitive traumas to relationships between the Muslims and non-Muslim Australians. The Hilali Comments have drifted the Muslim community towards alienation and segregation and have stabbed deep into the heart of harmony between Muslims and non Muslim Australians.

There is a fear that this approach will impinge upon the Muslim community, dire consequences. Therefore, in an attempt of a remedy for our community we in the ICPA announce the followings:

1-    A call for associations and Islamic leaders to denounce The Hilali Comments vigorously.
2-    That Hilali must step down and apologise to the whole Australian community.
3-    That since the title of Mufti has been abused; all measures should be taken to avoid this honourable title from being hijacked by extreme ideologist.

As to the allegation against us, we rely on Allah the exalted for victory. Allah is in the defense of those who believe and Allah honours those whom he wills and degrades those whom he wills and Allah is the Knowledgeable, the Wise.
