“It gives me great pleasure to be with you here at our 17^th Annual Ramadan Dinner. This event has become an annual tradition when members of our community gather to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood amongst themselves. 

 The month of Ramadan is the best month of the year where spirituality in the Muslim community reaches new heights.

 Ramadan is a period of fasting, reflection, devotion, generosity, sacrifice and sympathy towards those in the world who experience shortage in food and basic needs.

 Ramadan is the month of compassion, understanding and consideration. It is the month when a true believer's virtue is increased and when Muslims exhibit their utmost generosity. In this month the fasting Muslim is happily encouraged to feed others, to pay visits to his loved ones, to be considerate in sharing happiness and compassion with the sick and widowed, and to provide extra care to orphans. All these acts are done in the hope of getting rewards from Allah, the Creator. Muslims do all those good deeds with full sincerity and for the purpose of furthering the harmonious relationship that binds our community together.

 To remain abstinent for a whole day and to do it daily for a whole month is to recognize our own limitations both as individuals and as communities. Ramadan reminds us of our weaknesses and our gifts, and therefore it reminds of our responsibility towards all aspects of our lives.

The moral and spiritual climate of Ramadan helps in flourishing the Qur’anic message with its sentiment of goodness, humility, righteousness, and love for good and aversion for evil.

 The ICPA since its establishment in 1989 has become an exceptional institution providing services for the Muslim community and the community at large.

 It started with set aims and objectives and over many years it has met many of them. As you have seen on the video clip, the ICPA, in 20 years,  succeeded in building establishments that serviced and met community demands at all levels, religious, educational, media, women welfare, sporting, youth, and so many more. Yes ICPA makes an excellent appearance when reading the history of the Islamic community in Australia

 The most important element of the ICPA’s methodology is its stand against extremist ideologies. Using all possible and available means to educate the Muslim community the ICPA with its powerful tool of Islamic knowledge will always fight the extreme ideologies that lead to terrorism.

Looking at this from a different perspective, one may even argue that the ICPA in the Islamic community is the insurance to all Australians for security and peace and therefore there is a great deal of importance and need to cooperate and assist the ICPA methodology and strategy in the fight against extremists.

 In the end, I thank everyone for attending our Dinner tonight and I ask all to adhere to the path of the Prophets and to follow the way of God’s Messengers, for in such is the way to salvation and in such is peace.

أما بعد عباد الله، فإني أوصيكم ونفسي بتقوى الله العلي القدير القائل في محكم كتابه:" يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُواْ أَنفِقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لّا بَيْعٌ فِيهِ وَلاَ خُلَّةٌ وَلاَ شَفَاعَةٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ". (سورة البقرة ءاية 254 )

ويقول النبي الأعظم صلى الله عليه وسلم:" سبعةٌ يُظِلُّهم اللهُ في ظِلِّه (أي ظلِّ العرش يوم القيامة) يومَ لا ظلَّ إلا ظلُّه: إمامٌ عادل، وشابٌّ نشأَ في عبادةِ الله تعالى، ورجلٌ مُعلَّقٌ قَلْبُهُ في المساجد، ورجلان تحابَّا في الله، اجتمعا عليه وتفرَّقَا عليه، ورجلٌ دَعَتْهُ امرأةٌ ذاتُ مَنْصِبٍ وجمالٍ فقال: إني أخافُ الله، ورجلٌ تصدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ فأخفاها حتى لا تعلمَ شِمالُه ما تُنفق يمينُه، ورجلٌ ذكرَ الله خاليًا ففاضتْ عيناه".

قال صلى الله عليه وسلم:" ورجلٌ تصدَّقَ بِصَدَقَةٍ فأخفاها حتى لا تعلمَ شِمالُه ما تُنفق يمينُه ".

 Friday Speech 

It is a must to pay the Fitr Zakah money per every Muslim alive part of Ramadan and part of Shawwal. The due Zakah per person is about five Australian dollars for the year 2010 therefore if you pay 5 Australian dollars or more per person, you should regard any additional amount above the actual true value of that Zakah as a general donation.
